The benefits to exercising during pregnancy are endless. I stayed active and did circuit training 2-3x a week during my pregnancy. I felt great, had energy and a quick delivery. I truly believe that taking care of your body and staying strong is essential for mom and baby.
-Woman who follow a workout regime are less likely to gain excessive weight during pregnancy. Active moms generally fall asleep faster and have a sounder sleep, which will contribute to their weight control.
-Labor and delivery will be easier. Having a strong core, pelvic floor and fit cardiovascular system will help with the pushing phase of delivery. Fit moms have a better breathing technique during their contractions. Studies have shown that woman who exercise during pregnancy will most likely have a shorter duration of labor.
-Pregnant women that work out are more likely to be in a better mood all around. They feel calm after they exercise and have more energy throughout the day. A good workout will increase your serotonin levels and make you feel relaxed and happy.
-Exercising during pregnancy can help with swelling that may occur. Pregnant women may experience swelling in legs, ankles and feet. Exercise can limit swelling due to increased blood flow and circulation.
-Best of all you will bounce back into your pre-pregnancy body a lot faster than if you do not follow a workout plan. Many of my clients have gotten their body’s back within a year post pregnancy when training with me, doing cardio on their own and maintaining a strict but sensible diet plan.
